Who is Riya and Rain Studio?

1) What was your background?

I had to take either an art, music or drama class in Grade 10. I decided to take art and didn’t think or expect much of it but I ended up doing really well. At the time, I thought maybe I’d end up going into English, and eventually become a teacher or a writer.

After that semester ended, my teacher caught me in the hall and insisted that I continue taking art classes. I’m not sure where I’d be now if I didn’t listen. In grade 11 I fell in love with art.

Around this same time, I also had a cousin in the Philippines who had a small jewellery business with beaded semi precious stones. She sent me a few necklaces…
