Although I may be tired
Dreary and cold
Sometimes alone
In my mind
Dreaming about home
And all the people
That I love
And even during those times
Walking with my comrades
Through debris covered streets
And empty buildings
I believed that
The future generations
Shall never forget
About all of us
Here.

My father was a WWII soldier. Your poem reminded me of his service. I think we have forgotten about the sacrifices that were made.

That’s why I try to remind myself by watching lots of documentaries….

My grandfather was a WWI vet, my Dad, uncles a WWII vet, my brother is Viet Nam vet and my son was in the Marines. Thanks you for this inviting those of us who read to remember those who willingly served to keep our freedom.
