Summary
A couple from war torn Sudan finally achieved their refugee status and was given a house to live in. At first they were ecstatic, but soon they discovered that they are living with more than their dreams….
Themes
1) discrimination: One scene that hit me hard was when Rial asked for directions from a group of teenagers who told her to go back to Africa. I believed that she thought they would help her as they appeared to be of African descent themselves. That upset me because I, myself had been called racial names before as a teenager.
2) war: War tore families apart. It’s the civilians that are hurt the most. The terror that Bol and Rial will haunt them their whole entire lives.
Conclusion
At first, I expected a regular horror movie. But actually it has a lot of meaning behind the original horror story premise.
