Art Inspiration: Moon Cake

Happy Mid-autumn Festival!

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated by Chinese and other people including in the “Sinosphere.”Wikipedia

One of the most popular foods that I always eat is the moon cake. When I was growing up, there weren’t many flavours, fillings or choices. It was basically lotus bean paste with salted egg yolk. These moon cakes were quite expensive too!

The prices of moon cakes hasn’t changed much as a typical regular size moon cake is still not cheap. However, there are dozens of different fillings and varieties now.

The one I craved each year was the durian filling. This year I bought two types: cookie and snow skin. Cookie was like a thin soft arrowroot cookie on the outside. The snow skin one was like a thin Mochi covering on the outside.

Have you tried any moon cakes 🥮 before?
