Back to school time is coming!
Normally, the children are all excited to go back to see their friends, while the whole family goes back to school shopping.
Not this year…
Thanks to COVID-19, majority of the families I know are very hesitant or worried about going back to the classroom. Being on the PTA for the second year now, this is definitely going to be a challenging year for us.
Being on the PTA (parent-teacher-association) does have its benefits. For example, back in February, we immediately requested to have disinfectant wipes for each class. The teacher would ask students to wipe down doorknobs and handles in the classroom.
To be honest, it’s usually the parents who aren’t involved or interested with the school’s activities that complain the most. I understand that not everyone has the time to be immersed in the school’s activities or meetings. But, it’s important that they try to get to know the other parents more to dissolve conflicts and misunderstandings.
Sadly, they often resort to criticisms and finger-pointing at those parents, who devote their time and effort to help the school out. Yes, while they just fold their arms and complain….
At this point, I want to thank you and show my appreciation to all those amazing guardians and parents who dedicate so much time to their children’s schools. Family situations like single-parent families can make it even more difficult for many too! Sharing responsibilities between the two parents can be challenging, but I see more and more couples working together.
