Quarantine Rant: Be Grateful

Made With Loops

Growing up, we didn’t have much. My parents taught me to appreciate and be grateful for what was given to me. This is especially crucial regarding any presents and gifts during holidays and birthdays.

1) Be thankful

2) Even if it’s something that you didn’t need it, you should still say thank you. Regifting is ok as there is always someone else that you know, who will have use for it.

This how I teach my children.

Honestly, who doesn’t want to receive expensive and fancy things. But, how can you expect to get a luxurious gift every single time someone gives you something?

“Just give cash, gift card or nothing at all!”, some suggested.

Unfortunately, that’s not how I was brought up. I actually pay attention to people around me and enjoy picking up items that they might need, but don’t have yet. It’s exhilarating!

I used to be very upset and hurt when some people make a face or snide remark when I give them a present for their birthday or holiday. It’s hard not to, but I have learned that someday they will appreciate it, (especially for new parents)!

Mission accomplished!

Don’t you agree?

  2. This is good advice. I always insisted on kids being polite about gifts even if the giver wasn’t present. Also unless someone specifically asks you for suggestions, you don’t get to dictate what people give you for a gift. Wrong brand? Wrong color? Smile graciously and say thank you. Send a thank you note when called for.

  3. Yes! I agree, this is so true! Please keep having the courage to remind the world that we need to be grateful and thankful for what we have. I try to always teach my students to appreciate who we have in our lives, not what we have.

  4. I totally agree I’m the same way if I get someone something and they make a face. That usually tells me that those are the kind of people who don’t appreciate what they have or get gifted to them. My own family did it to me and my husband in the past.

  5. Exactly so many want the cake and icing too

“Life it it was meant be easy what would be the point of living ” I mean really think about that logically and let it sink in.

Nothing worth value will ever be seen as something that is given for free !!!

  6. Gratitude is as precious as the gift itself. Even if the thing given isn’t a dream come true, it’s possible to find something wonderful about it and show your thankfulness for that. Not to mention the thought and intention!
