Gokudo Shabu Shabu: Personal Hot Pot

Hot pot and cold weather makes a great match! At Gokudo Shabu Shabu, each person can have their own little hot pot of delicious soup and cook their own food in it.

How To Order

First, our server suggests that I chose which main dish, like pork, lamb or beef and vegetables for vegetarians. Then, she says that I can chose to either to stick with the complimentary chicken or mushroom broth. But, you can chose the fancier broths, like the spicy one, for an additional charge.

So the meal combo includes a big platter of vegetables, meatballs and a choice of green tea, milk tea or winter melon tea. You also get to chose either rice, udon or vermicelli.

There are a lot of small side orders like dumplings, vegetables and soy dishes, that you can order in additional to the main meal. But, I am satisfied with my main meal already.

  1. Superb, Vivian! Just by themselves, the “raw” ingredients are magnificent.

The broth must be sufficiently seasoned, because I didn’t spot any spices among the soup ingredients.

At first, I figured you were detailing a place you found in Japan. The poster, in English, on the wall raised questions, but it was only near the end I realized you were describing somewhere much closer to home. Nice find!
