Inokashira Park Zoo

The Inokashira Park Zoo in Mitaka was a spontaneous side trip from the Ghibli Museum. Only adults needed to pay for admission as children were free.

Many families with young children were running about and having picnics. There was a guinea pig petting zoo too!

There were a few very interesting life lessons in this zoo:

  1. I saw an empty cage with a mirror in it. The information sign says “Homo Sapiens”! That was thought-provoking.
  2. The sad story of Hanako, who died in 2016 at the age of 69. She was living alone for so many years since after World War Two. Sadly, it was also around this time that her sad condition had reached international headlines and researchers wanted to help her.

All in all, this zoo wasn’t very exciting, but it was a great place to take a rest. Having a picnic here with your family would be perfect!
