Taekwondo Lessons: A Mom’s Perspective

I always wanted to learn some sort of martial arts. But, unfortunately, was not encouraged back then due to stereotypes decades ago. Girls were not encouraged to take on “boy’s activities”.

Fast forward two decades later, my little boy took lessons and received his yellow belt! He was reluctant at first, but he quickly got confident about the skills that he learned.

I believe that learning self defence is crucial in life and his lessons satisfied that expectation. In the academy, they also were certified to teach lessons for students with special needs. Watching these amazing students taking the advancement tests was inspiring for us all.

  1. This is great. Congratulations to your son for winning his yellow belt!
I once took a short self-defense course. It was fun but I was not very good at it. I guess I would have needed a much longer course to really feel confident with what I learnt. I am still happy I tried it though.

  2. I agree, everyone should take some sort of self-defense or martial art. They do it in our school PE classes.

  3. Very nice
    Congrats to your son
Actually, martial arts is not just for boys only
    It is for girls too
At my kickboxing club we have a lot of girls who can kick ass easily😂

  4. So cool! I’m sort of interested in learning a martial art, but I’m not sure which one. Actually, as a kid what I wanted to learn was swordsmanship. 😁 Lack of swords kept me from pursuing my goal.
