Oven-Baked Korean BBQ Chicken Wings

As a teenager, I watched my mother pick out different Asian sauces at the grocery aisles. There were so many different brands and flavours. These pre-made sauces became a staple and back up plans for quick dinner ideas.

Tonight was one of those nights that called for the need of these sauces. So, I found a couple jars of Korean BBQ and Soybean BBQ Sauce. I emptied the leftover amounts (about 1/4 jar of each) into a stainless steel mixing bowl and diluted it with some water.

Then, I rinsed a pound of chicken wings and emptied them into the bowl of mixed sauces. I used a skewer to pierce the wings to make sure the sauce got absorbed.

After marinating in the sauce for about an hour, I preheated the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Lining a cookie sheet with parchment paper, I carefully arranged the wings on the cookie sheet.

Baking the chicken wings for 20 minutes and then, another 5 minutes was the way to go! Done!

  1. A triumph, Vivian! Your mother’s culinary lessons served you well, and produced delight for your family and craving for the rest of us.

I’m a poultry fiend, and I’ve been pleased with prior attempts at char siu pork, and now I can’t wait to combine bird and sauce.

Oh, the delicious journey you’ve started!
