I discovered this lovely graphic by PlantedInTheWoods…. this is such a lovely reminder.
Remember it’s not about shaming ourselves or others around us. Too often I heard people around me making fun or laughing at others when they purchased something that wasn’t zero waste, even though that person normally tried to be….
Like Anne Marie Bonneau says,
“We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly.
We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.”
Let us all work together and not against each other!
My family also likes to give snacks as gifts. Consumables are “green” gifts too. :o)

So true, Vivian. Plus, when we (the “millions”) find our actions met with encouragement, not derision, it helps thoughtful lifestyles gain traction.
This year, 4% low waste. Next year, 7%. A little at a time, and we’ll get there.

Great post! I just went to a local gift swap where everyone brought several new homemade craft/gifts and we all swapped! It was great to meet local crafts-people and I brought home some beautiful handmade items my friends will be happy to receive as gifts!

That’s a good attitude to take! Being dismissive of those who try but don’t quite make zero waste will only discourage people from reaching for that important goal. Let’s be kind to one another!

These are such great reminders, it’s crazy to see people already going mad in shops and buying lots of stuff and just the thought of all the excess wrapping, plastic decorations, gifts that end up in the charity shop within weeks of Christmas day fills me with dread – there’s only so much we need.
