Quick Tour of Thailand

In 2007, after visiting Vietnam, our group dropped by Thailand. It was a quick tour around Bangkok mostly, so the most impressive part of this leg of my Asia trip was the Grand Palace.

“The Grand Palace (Thai: พระบรมมหาราชวัง Phra Borom Maha Ratcha Wang ) is a complex of buildings at the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. The palace has been the official residenceof the Kings of Siam (and later Thailand) since 1782. The king, his court, and his royal government were based on the grounds of the palace until 1925. King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), resided at the Chitralada Royal Villa and his successor King Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) at the Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall, both in the Dusit Palace, but the Grand Palace is still used for official events. Several royal ceremonies and state functions are held within the walls of the palace every year. The palace is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Thailand.” —Wikipedia

Another spot that one would visit in Thailand, are the beaches. We visited Patong Beach this time.

On the streets, there were an abundance of street food! I remember that I found some delicious durian ice cream bars at one of the vendors.

Instead of the the traditional Tuk Tuk’s, there were these small yellow taxi-looking rides.

Tuk Tuk: An auto rickshaw is a motorized development of the traditional pulled rickshaw or cycle rickshaw. Most have three wheels and do not tilt. Wikipedia

Where I Stayed

Burasari Patong Beach Resort was where I stayed. These photos were from back in 2007, so it would be different now. Here’s the link.

Sadly, I didn’t stay in Thailand very long back then. I would love to visit again in the future.
