Vendor Feature: Ross Chocolates Sweetened With Maltitol

After enjoying the previous batch of sugar free chocolates (with stevia) from Ross Chocolates, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they had another line of chocolates! This time they were sweetened with MALTITOL.

What is Maltitol?

According to Wikipedia, “Maltitol is a sugar alcohol used as a sugar substitute. It has 75–90% of the sweetness of sucrose and nearly identical properties, except for browning. It is used to replace table sugar because it is half as caloric, does not promote tooth decay, and has a somewhat lesser effect on blood glucose.

This version of chocolates was the perfect solution for those who were sensitive to the taste of stevia. One interesting fact was that the mint flavour chocolate bar was only found in this line. (I love mint chocolate!) I immediately finished one bar!

Types of Ross Chocolate with Maltitol

There are two types of these chocolate bars:

  1. Dark Chocolate: plain or with almonds
  2. Milk Chocolate: plain, with almonds or with mint
Here is the nutritional label of the mint flavoured one.

These tasty chocolates are great for those in search of sugar free alternatives! I find that these ones are not as easy to melt when I compare them to the stevia version.

Thank you, Ross Chocolates for sending me these yummy treats!

  1. Wow I had never heard of maltitol. I actually have to really watch my sugar intake as I have very weak enamel but I am a huge chocolate lover, and unfortunately 90% unsweetened dark chocolate just doesn’t do it for me! I’ll definitely have to look into this!
